A Dog Named Brownie

A Story about a Dog Named Brownie

Published on April 29, 2025 by Texas Border Tours

Hi, I’m Brownie, and I’m a rescue pup who found my forever home at Texas Border Tours! I used to live in a shelter, but now I’m free—no cage, no leash, just wide-open spaces to explore. Life on the ranch suits me perfectly, and I’ve settled right in with my new family of horses, dogs, and humans.

One of my favorite things to do is chase the chickens! I’ll wait until they’re all pecking at their food, then I run right through the middle of them. They scatter in every direction, flapping their wings and squawking, and I can’t help but smile. It’s so much fun to watch them flutter away, and I feel like the king of the ranch in that moment!

I’m a bit shy around people—I had a rough start in life, so I’m still learning to trust. But I love going on every horse trail ride. I stick close to the horses, walking right next to their big hooves. The horses don’t mind me at all; they know I’m their little buddy. I feel so safe next to them, and I love trotting along as we explore the trails together.

When I’m not chasing chickens or trailing the horses, you’ll find me in my favorite spot—under the shop, lounging on my special chair. I keep one eye open, always watching the front gate to make sure everything’s okay. I like having a cozy spot where I can relax but still feel like I’m on duty, protecting my home.

I’m so happy to be at Texas Border Tours. It’s the best place for a dog like me to be free and loved. If you visit the ranch, I might be a little shy at first, but stick around—I’ll be the one walking close to the horses or napping under the shop. I’m Brownie, and I’ve finally found my home!
